I feel like figs don't get enough love. I mean dried figs don't get enough love. Everybody loves fresh figs--they're tasty on their own, but what about when they're not in season aka the majority of the year? Dried figs are delicious and deserve a healthy recipe focused on them. These vegan no bake fig & orange bars have all of the chewiness and sweetness of traditional Fig Newton cookies, but they’re made with wholesome ingredients.
Dried figs bring nutrition to the bar too—fiber, potassium, calcium, iron, and micro-nutrients. Figs on their own are a great healthy snack with an abundance of nutrients and no fat, cholesterol, or sodium. The fiber in figs means they will help you stay fuller longer and help with digestion.
I love this recipe because it can be made any time of the year since it is made with dried ingredients that can be found in any supermarket. What’s more, No baking is required and little prep time, which is a plus! It’s amazing to me that a dessert this good can be free of refined flour or refined sugar.
