Pineapple Smoothie

Can’t go on a holiday due to the current pandemic? This vegan pineapple smoothie will make you feel like you’re relaxing on the beach. It takes just 10 minutes and you’ll get a healthy treat! A quick vacation without having to travel further than your kitchen and each sip is just like drinking a pina colada (without the alcohol). I love the creamy, yet sippable, texture. But none of that matters if it doesn’t also taste good. Well, you’re in luck, because it’s delicious too! But besides the wonderful taste of the tropical fruit, I try to add it to my diet whenever I can because of the nutritional benefits. Pineapple is really high in manganese and vitamin C. And it's also high in fiber, folate, copper, vitamin B1 and vitamin B6.

Why eat more pineapple? Not only is it loaded with fiber and nutrients, it also has some impressive potential health benefits.

  • Pineapple contains bromelain, which is a group of digestive enzymes that help break down protein. This may help the protein be more easily absorbed and improve digestion.

  • Test tube studies suggest that bromelain may also have anticancer effects.

  • A study conducted among children suggest that eating pineapple may help boost immunity, lowering the risk of both bacterial and viral infections.

  • Bromelain may also reduce markers of inflammation.

  • As a result, the digestive enzymes in pineapple may offer pain relief for those who suffer from inflammatory arthritis.

  • Bromelain may also help speed muscle recovery after exercise.

The fact that pineapple tastes sweet and delicious is just a bonus!

This refreshing pineapple smoothie recipe delivers a burst of tropical flavours with each sip! Pineapple mixes particularly well with other tropical fruits. In this smoothie, banana is used for extra creaminess, along with coconut milk and the combination makes you feel like you’re on a tropical vacation! Sweet, creamy, refreshing, bright, nutritious, this delicious sip has it all. I love the bright yellow colour that reminds me of sunshine and the extra energy I feel after drinking it.
