I struggle with desserts a bit. I mean, I have no problem eating and making them, but when it comes to the blog, I sometimes have a hard time making them look pretty. This is especially true for those desserts that are normally considered extra pretty.
There's nothing like a retro dessert. I mean come on, how retro is this? No vintage themed party or fair would be complete without one of these as a centrepiece. This sucker was sweet, tender, moist, everything a pineapple upside down cake should be, and vegan (duh)!
The ‘buttery’, pineapple mixture adds such a deliciously tangy, tropical, nectar-like sweetness, which really compliments the neutral, vanilla flavour of the sponge. It’s the best part of the entire cake, trust me. Not to mention – it’s gorgeous isn’t it?!
I used to be all about making pretty desserts, and I think after art school I was like "meh". Some of the cakes were cool in person but I am sure some didn't actually look that pretty if photographed. Now I care more about taste over looks HAHA!
It goes without saying how much I am in love with this brown sugared, melt-in-your-mouth, buttery old-fashioned cake!
